Monetary donations are the best means to aid in the recovery of the talibes. Structuring their education through safe learning and living environments is the single-most important element in their rehabilitation. Simply freeing them from corrupt and abusive situations does not eliminate the chances of them gravitating back to their abusive teachers or turning to a life on the streets. Love1Talibe’s focus is to build the infrastructure to create these safe places and begin the process of rehabilitation and integration back into society. Your donations will be used to procure the resources for these young boys to learn a trade and life skills via a safe living space for them to mature and, most importantly, be kids again!
Love1Talibe Inc. wants to save the talibes from the dire situation into which
they have been cast, under no fault of their own, by providing the education they deserve. We are creating new schools and alternative places for children to live where they receive the Quranic teachings promised as well as the skills to succeed in life. Through farming, agriculture, and commerce we are constructing a safe place for these young boys to live as well as aiding them in their journey to regain their childhood in order to lead successful lives. We refuse to accept these boys as “lost causes.”
This mantra is the backbone of reputable nonprofits like Heifer International that aim to benefit underprivileged and impoverished communities around the globe. Love1Talibe is no different. We believe creating a safe environment as well as providing education and the proper resources necessary to succeed are the keys to rehabilitating the talibe children. Your donations are crucial in helping us provide the tools for these young boys to take back their childhoods and ultimately become important members of the community.
Among our first steps is the installation of a solar well at a safe and reputable daara (religious school) built back in 2008 for rescued talibes and other at-risk children. The solar well will play an instrumental role in allowing the children to plant and cultivate their own crops. The end result isn’t just food for the school, but also a means to continue to empower the young boys. The revenue created by selling the crops will allow the daara to continue to provide free scholarships to other talibes and at-risk youths.
The other tier of our plan is to establish a new school to provide both a safe learning environment and serve as an alternative living space for the talibes. We are in the process of converting a former hotel into a new boarding school with education, agriculture, and commerce as the three pillars of our vision. With three trusted marabouts (teachers) already on board, the new school on a two-acre plot of land will house around 100 talibes. Using the same model for growth, we hope to continue to expand and continue to impact the lives of as many talibes as possible.
